Vintage railway/Pershyttan

Take your seat, please, close the doors – and set out on an old-fashioned train adventure! The vintage railway and the station area in Nora afford a peak experience that fascinates both children and adults. Begin with a tour of the well-preserved station area; look into the station building, explore the engine sheds and look at the old steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, railbuses and carriages. Then hop on the train to Pershyttan and relive the trip that passengers made in 1856, when Sweden’s first normal-gauge railway was inaugurated. Step off on the platform in Pershyttan – and set out on a stimulating trip in the footsteps of the mining industry. Feel like a miner for a day; visit the immense smelting house, the imposing waterwheel and the well-preserved buildings and gardens in the miners’ village. This setting that so fires the imagination is an incredible experience for children and adults – and this year it will be even greater, thanks to a new visitor centre and new hiking loops in the unique cultural heritage park.
